Gill Simpson made her debut on BBC radio scotland at the age of 13, and has recorded and played on a regular basis with wayne robertson since 1994. she studied violin and piano at napier university and presently teaches violin and viola at the high school in dundee.
She was the musical director of the tayside young fiddlers for 8 years and was a successful student/adult teaching practise in the city of dundee and also recordes with her own group, the gill simpson players.
Many of gills pupils have gained championship recognition from junior, senior and ensemble titles through to the prestigeous glenfiddich fiddle championship.
In 1999, she was voted music teacher of the year in scotland by classic fm, and was runner up in great britain.
She has written various educational and teaching papers for the “strad” and classic fm magasizes and her work has been recognied in the publications throughout korea, japan, usa and canada.
Gill provides a diversity of vocal and instrumental characteristics in the band, and being a well travelled musician, her ambitions are to attend instrumental lessons at the julliard music school and sing in the blue note jazz club in new york. |
